Every family has their Christmas Eve traditions. For some it’s new pyjamas, for others it’s tracking Santa on an app or watching a festive film before bed. And of course, there’s the ritual of leaving something out for the big man himself – usually a mince pie, a glass of milk and a carrot for the reindeer.

But this year, we’re giving Scotland permission to break with tradition… just a little.

Because after hundreds of stops around the world – cookies in California, mince pies in Manchester – Santa knows exactly where he is when he arrives in Scotland.

He can smell the icing.
