McGhee’s rolls land in Morrisons stores across Scotland
McGhee’s morning rolls are now easier to find than ever.
From 25 March, shoppers will be able to pick up McGhee’s soft six-pack morning rolls and sourdough rolls in Morrisons stores right across Scotland — bringing a familiar Glasgow staple to breakfast tables from Alness to Stranraer.
Whether it’s a roll and square in the morning or something quick at lunchtime, the move marks a major milestone for the family bakery as it enters its 90th year.
The nationwide rollout follows a successful trial across 23 Morrisons stores in Greater Glasgow, where the six-pack morning roll quickly became one of the fastest-growing products in-store. McGhee’s currently produces more than 5,000 packs of rolls each week for Morrisons, with that number expected to rise significantly as availability expands across the country.
For a bakery that started in Maryhill in the 1930s, it’s another step forward in a year that’s all about looking back – and continuing to grow.
McGhee’s was recently named the second most chosen Scottish food and drink brand in the country, just behind Irn-Bru, and ahead of household names including Tunnock’s, Bells and Graham’s. On average, shoppers are picking up McGhee’s products almost 11 times a year, with morning rolls and potato scones among the favourites driving that growth.
Aisling McGhee, Commercial Director, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 90 years of McGhee’s this year, and bringing our rolls to Morrisons stores across Scotland feels like a really fitting way to mark it.“Our rolls have been part of everyday life in Glasgow for generations, so it’s exciting to see them reaching more homes and breakfast tables across the country.”

April Pollock, Buying Manager at Morrisons, added:
“Our customers love quality, locally loved products, and expanding the availability of McGhee’s rolls is a great way to bring a taste of Glasgow’s baking heritage to stores across Scotland.”
