At McGhee’s, we’ve spent almost 100 years baking products that bring people together.

From family gatherings and tea breaks to celebrations big and small, our products have always played a part in the moments that matter. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce our brand-new range of hand-finished sponge cakes, now available exclusively in selected Tesco stores across Scotland.

The new range includes three classic flavours: Victoria Sponge, Lemon Sponge and Toffee Sponge, each priced at £3.50.

While celebration cakes will always have their place, we’ve noticed a growing appetite for something a little different. More and more people are looking for affordable cakes that can be shared during everyday occasions – whether that’s popping in to visit family, catching up with friends over a cup of tea, taking something into work, or treating guests at the weekend.

These are the moments that don’t always come with candles and birthday banners, but still deserve something delicious on the table.

With that in mind, we developed a larger-format square sponge cake designed for easy slicing and sharing. Each cake is hand-finished and made to deliver the soft texture, generous portions and homemade taste that McGhee’s customers know and love.

“Over the past few years we’ve seen growing demand for products that sit between an everyday treat and a special occasion cake.

“People are still looking for opportunities to gather and share food, but those occasions are increasingly informal. Whether it’s visiting family, having friends round for a cup of tea or taking something into the office, consumers are looking for products that feel a little bit special without being tied to a birthday or major celebration.

“When developing the range, we wanted to create cakes that delivered on both quality and value. The result is a soft, generously sized sponge cake that can be shared easily, offers flexibility on portion size and delivers the kind of homemade taste people expect from McGhee’s.”

The new sponge cake range is available now in selected Tesco stores across Scotland.
